The Santa Clause features Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, a man who doesn’t really believe in Santa Claus. Or at least he didn’t until he accidentally caused Santa’s death on Christmas Eve. When Scott and his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd), discover Santa’s now- empty outfit, the former unwittingly takes on the responsibilities of Santa.

At the North Pole, Scott is told that he has one year to get his affairs in order before he permanently becomes Santa. As much as Charlie loves the idea of his father as the new Santa, his mom, Laura Miller (Wendy Crewson), and her new husband, Neal (Judge Reinhold), may doom Christmas by having Scott locked up.
