£18 Fair Isle jumper channels Claudia Winkleman’s £445 look

The Traitors is seriously heating up now, we’re in the final week and it’s not just the contestants who are pulling out all the stops, host Claudia Winkleman seems to have taken her wardrobe up a notch too. On Wednesday (21 January) evening’s episode, the 53-year-old wore a very on-trend, snuggly-looking grey knit jumper with a Fair Isle pattern.
After some hunting, we can confirm Claud’s exact knit is the Nordic Fair Isle jumper from Hambro and Miller. It’s a chunky grey-and-cream design inspired by traditional Scandinavian patterns, with classic Fair Isle detailing around the yoke. It is hand-knitted to order in the UK and made from 100% baby alpaca. At £445, it’s a big investment so we’ve scouted out some more affordable options that give a similar look.
Top of our list is an £18 Fair Isle jumper we’ve spotted at New Look, which at the time of writing is reduced from £29.99 down to £17.99.
In a slouchy fit, it has a traditional diamond Fair Isle pattern in hues of brown, cream and black. It’s lighter than the alpaca version, but the acrylic blend keeps it cosy, and it can go into the washing machine.
One customer wrote, “This jumper is a quality item, it is lovely and warm and very soft, it is a very good length.” While another shopper wrote, “I have been searching for a Fair Isle jumper that doesn’t cut off at the waist. This hit the spot. It covered my bum. I can’t wear wool and a lot of acrylic jumpers are really thin. This was a good comfortable, warm jumper.” However, one or two people in the reviews commented that the pullover was bigger than they had expected,
Another good option is the Fiona Fair Isle jumper by White Stuff, available via QVC. This one is slightly dressier, with a funnel neck and subtle sparkly yarn running through the Fair Isle detailing on the yoke. It’s made from a lambswool-blend, and customers say it’s warm without being bulky.
One shopper wrote, “Lovely jumper, fantastic quality, warm and cosy, perfect fit, great with jeans and also looks fabulous with my grey sequins skirt.” But one customer penned, “Unfortunately, I had to return, the jumper itself is so heavy and thick. I am a cold person but even I would overheat in this one.”
