Mary J. Blige Announces Vegas Residency, ‘My Life, My Story’

Mary J. Blige is hitting Sin City! After celebrating her 55th birthday yesterday, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has announced her first-ever Vegas residency, “Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story,” at Dolby Live at Park MGM. On Monday morning (Jan. 12), Blige took to social media to share the news with a promo reel.
“I’ve been so excited to announce this Vegas residency,” she said in a press release. “Creating a show like this has been something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a chance to get my fans together from all over – different cities, states, and countries – to experience something together. My Life, My Story will be just that – with some surprises for my fans that have been there through it all. See you in May!”
Tickets for Blige’s 10-date residency go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. However, Citi / AAdvantage cardmembers can purchase tickets in advance on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. ET via CitiEntertainment.com.
Artist fans will also have access to a pre-sale beginning Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. PT. Members of MGM Rewards, MGM Resorts’ loyalty rewards program, as well as Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers, will receive access to a pre-sale beginning Thursday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. PT. All pre-sales will end Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10 p.m. PT.
The nine-time Grammy winner stopped by the Today Show on Monday morning to talk about the residency and what fans can expect. “It’s going to be done more theatrically,” she shared. “It’s still going to have the music, it’s still going to be fun — but it’s a story, so there’s going to be actors and actresses. So the music tells the story. I have so many songs that I haven’t performed yet for my fans… The actors are going to narrate the music, but you’re still going to have a good time.”
Last year, Blige embarked on her For My Fans Tour and released the concert film, Mary J. Blige: For My Fans, after headlining at Madison Square Garden. Aside from her Vegas residency, she’ll be premiering her Lifetime original movie, Be Happy, starring Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer, and Russel Hornsby on Feb. 7.
