The Texas Longhorns received significant news last week, as incoming transfer offensive lineman Laurence Seymore’s waiver for a sixth year of eligibility was granted on Wednesday. Seymore, who is now cleared to suit up for the 2026 season, is expected to step in immediately as the starting left guard for head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive coordinator Kyle Flood.
The news was announced after weeks of uncertainty surrounding Seymore’s future following his transfer to Texas from Western Kentucky in January. At his first media availability of the year in February, Sarkisian was unable to offer a definitive answer, as no decision had been made.. He noted that the NCAA allowed Seymore to resubmit the waiver “with some new information in a way that [made] his case very compelling.”

The 6-foot-2, 320-pound lineman arrives in Austin after multiple prior stops. He started his collegiate career in 2021 at Miami before transferring to Akron prior to 2023. Following two years there, he transferred to Western Kentucky, where he earned second-team All-America honors while allowing just one sack all season in 2025.
Now eligible, Seymore will look to provide consistent protection and blocking for Texas in the trenches, and his experience will be extremely valuable to an offensive line unit aiming to bounce back as the Longhorns look to return to title contention in 2026.
