Aspinal of London release Wuthering Heights handbag range

Today’s the day Emerald Fennell’s romantic and racy take on Wuthering Heights lands in cinemas across the UK, starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie. To mark the occasion, Aspinal of London has unveiled a Wuthering Heights-themed range designed to feel like it’s stepped straight off the moors and into your wardrobe. As part of the collection, there have been some gorgeous updates to a selection of their best-loved handbags, alongside new accessories adorned with quotes from the film.

One of the stand-out pieces in the collection is the Midi Mayfair handbag, a firm favourite of Catherine, who’s been spotted carrying it on multiple occasions over the years. The Midi Mayfair has quietly become something of a celebrity staple in the accessories world, with other members of the Royal Family, including Zara Tindall, counted as fans, as well as A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez.

Most recently, Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer, nieces of Diana, Princess of Wales, were spotted on the red carpet at the UK film premiere carrying the exact bags from the Wuthering Heights collection.

For this release, the Midi Mayfair has been refreshed in four ‘deep shine’ croc print colour ways: forest green, cherry red, caramel and ivory. There’s also a black velvet version, which is my personal favourite, featuring a stitched design and a red flower charm, made in partnership with London-based fashion designer Patrick McDowell. The compact design has a top handle for ladylike carrying, plus a longer detachable chain strap if you prefer to wear it across the body. It fastens with the brand’s signature shield lock, and inside you’ll find a luxurious grosgrain lining, a central zipped compartment and open pockets on either side.

Commenting on Aspinal of London’s Instagram announcement, one fan described the Midi Mayfair’s updated look as “classy and elegant”.

Of course, the Midi Mayfair isn’t the only handbag to receive a romantic makeover. The London Tote and the smaller midi London Tote have both arrived in a glossy merlot finish. These woven leather totes come with a top handle for easy carrying and are finished with removable gold-coloured charms. The Midi, the smaller of the two, measures 9 x 11.5 x 6 inches, while the larger bag measures 10.5 x 17 x 6 inches. Both are lined in grosgrain and feature a main compartment divided by a central zipped pocket, making them just as functional as they are stylish. 

There are some bags that sit around the £300 mark included in the collection too, such as the ruby red Hudson Large Crossbody Pouch. 

And it’s not just about handbags. The collection also features a range of romantic Wuthering Heights-inspired accessories, including leather keyrings, passport covers and luggage tags, each printed with famous quotes such as “be with me always” in the film’s signature font. There are jewellery pieces too, perfect for gifting. The Thin Love Hearts bangle, crafted from 18ct and enamel in a choice of red or gold, is finished with a tiny heart print all the way around. At £135, it feels indulgent yet still within affordable reach.
