Billie Eilish ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ Concert Film Release Moved to May

Billie Eilish‘s Hit Me Hard and Soft concert film will arrive in theaters two months later than expected. The release has been rescheduled from March 20 to May 8, co-director James Cameron shared on Threads. “We’re refining the cut; dialing in cool, new 3D tech; adding some special behind-the-scenes we know you’ll love,” Cameron wrote, adding it will be “Worth the wait!”

Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) was captured during Eilish’s four-night stretch of shows in Manchester in July 2025. The musician teased the project onstage, keeping details spare but telling the audience, “I can’t say much about it. But what I can say is that I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D. So, take that as you will, and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me, are part of a thing that I am making with him.”

When they were able to share more, new details supported the ambition of the project. “We’re using tech that’s never been used before,” Cameron said in the official film trailer. “No one’s shot a concert film on this scale before.”

In October, Eilish told WSJ Magazine, “I’m really excited for all of it, and I’m so excited for the fans to experience this 3D situation that we’re working on. It’s nothing I’ve ever done, and I haven’t seen anything really like it, and I’m just kind of blown away at every step of the process. He spends the entire show [framing the show] in front of all of the screens, and he just never quits. He never yawns, and he’s so respectful of what I want.”

When speaking about the film in an interview with ET, Cameron was quick to redirect praise to Eilish. “It was just so much fun, I mean, she is such a wonderful artist, she’s so talented, and she and I are directing that together, so we will be in the cutting room together,” he said. “I figured she created the show; she was the architect of one of the most amazing live shows I have ever seen. She earned her director props already.”
