Chris Pratt is telling everyone to stop for a moment in the midst of all the holiday rush and to reflect on faith instead. The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor along with the Hallow prayer app has come up with a daily challenge for Christmas titled ‘Be Still’, which is based on the book ‘The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry’ and encourages the practitioners to put spirituality ahead of seasonal goodies. Millions of positive comments from the audience have been pouring in along with some biting critiques.

With the help of the Hallow prayer app, Chris Pratt is from now on, engaging the public in a Christmas prayer initiative that will bring them to silence and tranquility even in the midst of holiday chaos. In a video that was uploaded to the internet, Pratt said that he was very happy to be the one to lead the ‘Be Still’ challenge on the Hallow app and offer daily prayers and meditations based on John Mark Comer’s book ‘The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry’.

“Be Still and Know that I am God” is the phrase I tell myself every day,” he said. Pratt presented the challenge as a cure for the modern-day quickness, especially around Christmas time. “You would think that the life we live is so fast that we can’t help but make a point of Christmas being the reason for the season, which is not black forest cake,” he jokingly said in the video, admitting he does not consume it anymore.

Christianity being the main theme feature of the announcement, many of Pratt’s followers who also share the same faith have rallied around him. One ecstatic commenter exclaimed: “Whom do you serve? JESUS” with the rest of the crowd following her showing their agreement by commenting “Christ is King” and “Jesus Christ is Lord!!” etc. Some of the followers even went as far as to say that they had appreciated Pratt’s faith displayed openly in the Hollywood setting. One of them wrote, “I love it when Chris does not offer his faith to Hollywood even when it is difficult.”

The Instagram post came up with an unexpected book club as well. A user wrote, “One of my favorite books!” in the comments, another tagged the author, John Mark Comer, writing, “he’s reading Ruthless Elimination of Hurry! Woo!”. Pratt’s laid-back, humorous aside about cookies also worked wonders. “I was laughing so hard with the cookies thing,” one qualified. “This is lovely too, thanks for sharing the heart of God with us!”

Though some positive reactions were there too, not every response was upbeat. A few users regarded the post as dubious because it directed people to download the Hallow app via a particular link and had a promotional feel to it. “Jesus wants you to spend money on this app,” one commented. While another voiced a doubt: “I like Chris, and I think he’s probably one of the nicest actors in Hollywood; I just wish he wouldn’t mix business with religion.”

The comment section of the post became a mini forum where people argued about theology. One user said, “I appreciate the holiday season but I am not sure if the Bible is true or not. Enjoy your celebrations though”, which started a thread on people’s beliefs, have historical evidence etc. Another comment was quite blunt, “Dude it’s 2025 we know that shit isn’t real”, which got a soft response inviting the user to think about the Christmas message.

More profound discussions of faith merged with lighter curiosities. “Amen, but… Why don’t you eat the cookies anymore?” was the question of one follower who has a sweet tooth. Also busy actors always get the wish for more screen time. “Merry Christmas!!!! More terminal list please!!!!” one begged another came with a joke, “The most wonderful time of the year should be us watching True Believer on Prime Video!”

Throughout the whole time, Pratt kept sharing his main message which was to help people change their focus during Christmas to the right thing. He said that the app’s challenge was a way of “focusing on what really matters in this incredible season”. He considers the birth of Jesus Christ as that which is really considered The Light of the World. The conversation that was started by the post went through various topics like faith and commerce, finding peace in the chaos, the spiritual condition of the viewers— whether they were on board or just there for the actor. The ‘Be Still’ challenge is now being executed, giving a contemplative method, albeit digitally-assisted way of quietening oneself amidst the noisy Christmas countdown. Fans are also eager for updates on his intense training for future projects.
