Clothes will smell better in minutes without a washing machine by using 1 kitchen item

A cleaning expert has revealed the very unexpected item that can re-fresh your clothes without using a washing machine. There is not much worse than planning an outfit but heading to your wardrobe and discovering  it could do with a wash.

While you could throw the item into the washing machine, it might not be hours till its ready to wear due to the struggles of getting clothes dry in winter. However, cleaning guru Lynsey Crombie has a hack that can re-fresh winter clothes within minutes. She shared her hack with her followers and praised a rather unusual item.

The Queen of Clean demonstrated how you can re-fresh clothes with vodka. Lynsey shared: “Vodka isn’t just for your cocktail, you can actually use it to refresh your winter knits inbetween washes.

“Just mix 50/50 vodka water and add a few drops of your favourite essential oils. Give it a good shake and spritz it liberally all over. Once dry, it’s ready to pop back in your wardrobe.”

She added: “No full wash needed, and your knits will smell amazing, feel revitalised, and stay winter-ready. Who knew keeping your cosy layers fresh could be this easy (and a little fun too)?”

Lynsey’s fans loved her hack as one said: “Oooh you’re kidding? That is so easy.” Another added: “Lovely to not have to wash them as often.”

Someone else commented: “Oh wow!! did not know this.” A fourth shared: “This is a fab hack.”

The hack can even help you save money on household bills, as experts have warned frequent washing is among the biggest hidden expenses. Plumbworld experts say items such as jeans, jumpers, and coats don’t need to be cleaned after every use.

Over-washing not only wastes detergent, water, and electricity, but also causes clothes to fade and wear out quicker. The experts recommend airing items between uses or using a fabric refresher spray instead.

By cutting out two unnecessary loads each week, you could save approximately £80 a year on energy alone.

It is also suggested washing at cooler temperatures can decrease electricity usage with minimal impact on cleaning performance. But, for hygiene items such as towels, bedding or heavily soiled loads, an occasional hotter wash may still be suitable.
