Dentist’s 36p-a-day ‘enamel-safe’ tip to ‘keep teeth stain-free’

A dentist has shared a straightforward teeth whitening regime costing just 36p daily, highlighting gentle whitening strips as one of his three methods for maintaining stain-free teeth. The timing couldn’t be better, as Amazon’s top-selling Dr Dent Professional Teeth Whitening Strips have been reduced in price.

With New Year resolutions and confidence-boosting firmly at the forefront of people’s minds, teeth whitening is dominating beauty wishlists nationwide. Currently, shoppers can secure a £10.99 saving (42% off) on the Amazon bestseller, reducing the price to £15 from £25.99 for a pack of 42 strips. This works out at 36p per strip during the time-limited offer running until January 31.

The dentist, who frequently posts practical oral health guidance on TikTok under the handle tonys.finds, emphasised that maintaining stain-free teeth doesn’t require costly clinic procedures, just a few clever habits and appropriate products at home. “One of the best things about working in dentistry is knowing the quick and easy ways to keep your teeth stain-free,” he explains in his video on Dr Dent’s site.

“So here are my three favourites. Number one, get yourself an electric toothbrush. You have no reason to be using a manual toothbrush anymore. You don’t have to spend hundreds, just get one”, reports Wales Online.

“Number two is for tea and coffee drinkers: once you’ve had a cup, have a quick swish around your mouth with some water. The longer that the coffee is on your teeth, the more likely it is to stain.

“Number three, get yourself some peroxide-free whitening strips. These are more gentle than normal peroxide, so they are enamel-safe, they don’t cause sensitivity. This is the brand that we all use, they are fantastic at getting rid of stains.”

The at-home teeth whitening strips promise to deliver a noticeably whiter, brighter smile in just 30 to 60 minutes daily, according to the manufacturer. Positioned as a pain-free and convenient alternative to costly clinic treatments, these strips claim to provide professional-standard results from the comfort of your own home, without sensitivity or fuss.

Powered by premium whitening agents, Dr Dent strips are designed to lift and eliminate stubborn stains caused by coffee, wine, soft drinks, food and smoking, the brand states. With regular use, teeth can appear up to ‘eight times brighter’, the manufacturer claims.

Each box contains 42 easy-to-use whitening strips, a mouth opener for comfortable application and clear step-by-step instructions. There’s also a progress guide enabling customers to monitor their results.

Dr Dent’s advanced, slip-free formula tackles tough discolouration, helping remove up to 14 years of accumulated coffee, wine and nicotine stains, according to the brand. The strips remain securely in place during treatment, allowing the powerful whitening ingredients to work effectively without mess or discomfort.

For those not keen on teeth whitening strips, an alternative option is the Oral B Intensive Whitening Bundle, priced at £40 from Boots. The bundle includes an Oral-B Pro 3D White Clinical Intensive Whitening Toothpaste Bright Brilliance (75ml) and an Oral-B Pro 3D White Clinical Intensive Whitening Toothpaste Radiant White (75ml), effectively offering two products for the price of one.

Smile Therapy is currently offering the Teeth Cleaning and Whitening Strips (14 Treatments) for £17.99, reduced from £39.99, on its website. These strips are reportedly formulated to ‘target surface-level stains’ and deliver visible improvements in one complete treatment.

Meanwhile, the Dr Dent Professional Teeth Whitening Strips have achieved an impressive 4.1 out of five stars from over 5,000 Amazon reviews. One satisfied customer remarked: “These whitening strips are easy to use and deliver noticeable results after just a few treatments. I have sensitive teeth, and I was impressed that they caused no irritation while still effectively whitening my smile. The included mouth opener is a great bonus and makes the whole process more comfortable and professional.”

Another reviewer enthused: “Genuinely a steal. I have never been happier with a whitening treatment as much as this one. It works, it’s affordable and it’s good quality. They give you clear instructions, everything you need. Got results from first use. 10/10.”

A few others had slightly different views, with one stating: “Great product for slow, gentle and effective tooth whitening. Not the easiest to apply or keep in place, but gets easier with practice. Some white spots after application but these disappear within half an hour.”

Another commented: “Good value, seen a difference in tooth colour but not the easiest to apply.” However, the majority were satisfied, as another person noted: “Whitening strips work well. Easy to use and give a visibly brighter smile after a few uses. Perfect for quick refresh and maintenance.”
