Eric Dane’s Friends Launch GoFundMe to Support Actor’s Daughters

The Grey’s Anatomy star died at age 53 after a battle with ALS

Eric Dane’s friends have started a GoFundMe for the late actor’s daughters after his death on Feb. 19 at age 53 following a fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The page has currently raised more than $80,000 of its $250,000 goal. A description on the fundraiser states that his wife, Rebecca, and their two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, were the “center of his world.”

“Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease,” the message reads. “As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.”

News of Dane’s death arrived 10 months after he shared his diagnosis of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, with the public. When appearing on television and social media for interviews, Dane would often share the challenges of living with the disease and advocate for awareness and research into ALS.

The day after his passing, Netflix released an interview with Dane for its Famous Last Words series that was confidentially recorded in November 2025, with the understanding that it would be released only after his death. When on camera, Dane delivers a final, heartbreaking message addressed to his daughters. “Fight with every ounce of your being, and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight,” he tells them in the video. “Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”
