Bravo has aired Part 1 of the anticipated three-part “Summer House” Season 10 reunion, and Ciara Miller didn’t hold back when it came to how betrayed she feels by her co-stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson.
The explosive reunion was filmed April 23, less than a month after Amanda and West confirmed their relationship. This was a scandal that crippled the Bravoverse for its many layers: West is Ciara’s ex and Amanda is Ciara’s close friend; Amanda and her husband, fellow “Summer House” cast member Kyle Cooke, had just announced their split in January; viewers had also been watching West and Ciara rekindle their romance in new episodes of Season 10, which taped last summer.
Amanda and West explained in their joint public statement that their romantic “connection” was born out of a “genuine, longstanding friendship.”
“Summer House” cast members had since publicly shared their emotions about the scandal and what they did and didn’t know. Ciara gave her reaction in an interview with Glamour magazine, calling the news a “major mindf—.” West had spoken briefly in various episodes of his podcast, the most recent of which he said he and Kyle had three-hour conversation.
Amanda apologized in a statement shared to her Instagram story on April 10 without naming anyone specifically.
“I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally who I’ve reached out to individually,” Amanda wrote.
She said she would be “addressing any and all questions honestly and directly” at the reunion.
Viewers had to patiently wait until May 26 to see how it all played out. Here’s what Amanda, West and Ciara had to say in Part 1 of the “Summer House” Season 10 reunion.
A big chunk of this episode showed the “Summer House” cast preparing to take the reunion stage. Ciara was the first to receive a visit from host Andy Cohen, who had been making his rounds in the dressing areas.
She was visibly upset when she told Andy that Amanda was the person she felt most betrayed by. Her most pressing question for both Amanda and West was, “Why?”
When the cast took the reunion stage, Andy wasted no time addressing the scandal and asked Ciara when she suspected something was going on between Amanda and West.
Ciara gave a date, Jan. 17, when she texted Amanda to invite her to drinks with castmate Mia Calabrese and saw her phone’s location was at West’s house.
“I said, ‘Hm, that’s weird, why would she be at West’s house?’” Ciara said.
“Because West was there for me all summer,” Amanda said.
“Where was I?” Ciara said.
“Also there for me,” Amanda said.
“How many times have I asked you to hang out? Have I asked to come over to your house? Have I invited you to do stuff? And you act like your phone doesn’t work,” Ciara said.
Ciara clapped back at Amanda’s notion that West was fair to pursue.
“There are a million other f—-ing guys in New York City, but you chose the one — and you know how much that would f— me up — you chose the one guy,” she said.
“You did it on purpose because you’re a f—-ing snake, Amanda. You’re a snake in the f—-ing grass, is what you are. You’re a snake in the f—-ing grass, and you should honestly just say OK because you know you are. You move silent, but you’re f—-ing deadly.”
Ciara pulled out her phone to show texts that Amanda sent to Ciara the day that rumors first emerged online about Amanda and West. (These rumors circulated a few weeks before Amanda and West confirmed their relationship.)
Amanda’s text to Ciara said: “Hi, checking in. The internet is f—-ing on one right now and I feel like everything I do is under a microscope and I can’t believe I’m even having to text you this right now but West and I are very much so just friends. I’m sad we’re even trying to discuss this.”
After Ciara read this text, Andy asked Amanda to clarify if she and West had been hooking up at that time. Amanda replied they had been “talking” and “everything that was happening” was “PG.”
Ciara read aloud her text back to Amanda: “So I can expect for there to be no photos or videos coming out? Feels like it’s such a widespread rumor for there to be no veracity to it.”
Amanda texted back: “Nothing different than what I’ve posted myself. People have just seen us with each other more and are being psychos. I hear what you’re saying, but I feel like I can’t even exist right now without people over analyzing everything I do.”
Ciara then texted back: “OK, so for clarity, since I don’t really feel like you’re making it clear, you and West haven’t hooked up, made out, held hands under their table, or had sex?”
Amanda then texted: “Correct.”
On the reunion stage, Amanda admitted, “I lied. I 100% lied.”
Ciara then read another text from Amanda that came a few days later: “Do you want to talk at all? I’m super in my head about where we left off this conversation, and I hate the thought of things being weird between us, because of Wes, like that’s so silly to me.”
When cast member Lindsay Hubbard suggested that Amanda and West will not end up together, Ciara countered that Amanda is the “best” type of woman for West.
“Someone who’s not going to check him on anything. That’s totally Amanda. She’s very mute. She’s going to be that weak figure that he needs, and he can always be the star in the relationship.” she said. “I actually think maybe it could work.”
Kyle then said to Ciara, “That was a little harsh.”
“That’s your wife. She’s not my wife,” Ciara replied.
At the reunion’s start, West told the group he wanted to clear up the “wildfire of what this became.”
Ciara accused West of lying about being in another relationship earlier this year.
“I think you’re the most fraudulent person sitting on this couch,” she told West. “We’ve been here three years now, and I don’t think anybody really truly knows who you are. You live a different life off camera than you do on camera. We don’t know what you’re doing, and probably the reason why it was so confusing is because you have a girlfriend: Meija.”
West said she was “not a girlfriend” but someone he was “seeing.” Meija made him the horse-hair tie that West wore on “Watch What Happens Live” in March, he said.
Amanda said that she knew West was dating Meija at the time.
Cast member Jesse Solomon, who is West’s close friend, called both West and Amanda out for lying to him about their relationship when they had opportunities to tell the truth.
“I spoke with Amanda, I sat down with her for drinks, and she told me that it just wasn’t true,” Jesse said. “West, I don’t know, but I would text him asking, and he would tell me that it wasn’t true.”
West replied by owning up to lying.
“The lying part, I will not sit here and act like I didn’t do it,” he said. “I 100% lied to people here, and I take full accountability for that. It’s not cool to do in general, it’s not cool to do to your friends, and no matter the case, lying to people you care about is not OK.”
When Andy asked West and Amanda who made the first move, West said he voiced his feelings first.
“I kind of looked at Amanda, and I was like, ‘Am I my crazy, or is there a little something going on here?’”
He then said their first kiss was in February after a brunch. When asked when they first slept together, Amanda replied that it was after they released their public statement.
“Also to clear up — this isn’t a sex scandal. This was, like, hanging out,” West said.
Andy and multiple cast members asked West to address his mixed signals toward Ciara last summer, as seen on the show.
“I wouldn’t lie about a relationship being great, but I also recognized in that time I was not going to be what Ciara needed, and we ended it,” he said. “We got dinner right after summer, and I told Ciara what my plans were, and how much I learned the first time from what affected Ciara, and that I wasn’t going to just jump down that rabbit hole again.
I know a lot of things that can be casual for me are not casual for Ciara, and we had that conversation. And I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I was very proactive in trying to protect our friendship and not send wrong messages.”
Mia then asked West if he thought an emotional connection was equally as important as being physical.
“Obviously we didn’t talk for two years, and we were kind of like right back at it,” he said. “That is a real thing, and I fell short in those moments. I will acknowledge that. But there are numerous times where I tried to make steps to not allow us to get to a romantic place or a physical place and keep it as friends, because I wanted to be your friend.”
When the reunion began, Amanda said she was prepared to “take accountability and apologize, especially to Ciara and Kyle.”
To that, Ciara replied, “I’m glad you could say our name this time” — a reference to the fact that Amanda and West’s joint statement did not address them specifically.
When Mia accused Amanda of prioritizing her relationship with West over her friendship with Ciara, Amanda defended herself.
“I had an awakening. I was living on my own. I had separated from my ex. I was trying to prioritize myself,” she said.
“I was also hanging out with other people. I was not just hanging out with West, OK? I was plenty of other friends where he was not present at all.”
The heart of the discussion was the extent of Amanda and West’s betrayal. When Andy asked the group to weigh in on Amanda and West’s joint statement revealing their relationship, West said there were “a lot of layers to it.”
“Is that enough layers to go, ‘What the f— are we doing?’” cast member Carl Radke said.
“Right, it was so conscious that you guys talked about it,” Ciara said. “It wasn’t like a drunk hookup. You guys talked about it. You knew how dumb and how weird it would be, and you still did it. You chose to do it. You kept doing it. And you were hiding it.”
Amanda said, “Sometimes you can’t help who you like and who you are attracted to.”
“You actually can help it,” Ciara said. “When you’re married you can help it.”
Later, Amanda said what she “should have said” to Ciara when rumors about her and West first circulated online.
“Maybe I should have said from the get-go, I don’t know what’s going on, I’m having feelings for someone that I shouldn’t have feelings for, I don’t know what to do about it,” Amanda said.
“Then you remove yourself,” Ciara said.
“So I’m not allowed to pursue something that I feel strongly about?” Amanda replied.
“Well clearly you don’t feel strongly if you’re trying to understand it,” Kyle said.
“So no one in this world has ever been in a situation like this before?” Amanda asked.
“In high school maybe,” Lindsay said. “We’re in our 30s!”
“This is not the craziest thing that’s ever happened in the whole entire world,” Amanda said. “You guys are acting like I had an affair.”
Ciara and West kissed the last weekend of the summer, shown in finale episode of Season 10.
“Were you aware they were canoodling?” Andy asked Amanda.
“Not to that extent, no,” she said.
