Hilary Duff paid homage to one of her most viral moments during the first show of her new tour, “Small Rooms, Big Nerves.”
The 38-year-old actor and singer recently embarked on her first tour in nearly 20 years to coincide with the upcoming release of her album, “Luck…or Something.” Duff kicked off the tour, which marked her first live show in over a decade, with a sold out-performance in London on Jan. 19 at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Fans captured Duff belting out hits like “Come Clean,” “So Yesterday,” “Why Not” and “What Dreams Are Made Of,” and shared clips on social media. For her performance of “With Love,” Duff surprised fans by re-creating her unforgettable dance moves from when she previously sang the song during an appearance on TODAY in 2007.
Duff playfully stuck out her tongue and nailed the same choreography she danced nearly two decades ago to hundreds of fans in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. At the time, Duff was promoting her fourth album, “Dignity.”
Following her grand return to the stage for the first time in over 10 years, she reflected on what the moment meant to her in an Instagram post.
Beside pictures and videos from the London show, Duff wrote, “18 years later, and I still can’t quite make sense of it all. I’ve imagined what it might feel like to return to the stage, but last night was something else entirely. The love, the community, the energy…it met me in a way I wasn’t prepared for.”
She continued, “Thank you for walking with me all these years, for celebrating what was while embracing what’s becoming. I don’t know how I ended up here, but I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Truly what dreams are made of — but real.”
The tour will travel to Toronto, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Las Vegas next. Her shows also feature songs from Duff’s sixth album “Luck… or Something,” which will arrive on Feb. 20. She has already released two singles from the album: “Mature” and “Roommates.”
Duff, who last released music in 2015 for her “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” album, announced new music was on the way in September. She revealed in a press release that she was working on an “intimate docuseries” about her music, too.
The docuseries will show her “as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.”
Along with the press release, Duff also shared photos in September of her working hard in a recording studio with husband Matthew Koma. “New music … or something,” she cheekily captioned the post.
Duff and Koma collaborated on her last album, and he co-wrote and co-produced the two lead singles from “Luck… or Something.”
