‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant ‘Manifested’ Victory With Thrilling Move

Maybe Alison Betts should change her name to Alison Betts wisely.
Betts pulled off a stunning move on the Feb. 11 episode of “Jeopardy!” en route to winning the game after she was in third place going into Final Jeopardy.
Betts, a creative executive originally from San Jose, California, was competing against Isaac Hirsch and Josh Hill in the quarterfinals of the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament. She had $3,200 going into the final round, while Hirsch and Hill each had $7,600.
The Final Jeopardy category was “1960s Novel Characters” and the clue was, “An article about autism in fictional characters included him, whose ‘reward’ is to have his brave act go unrecognized.”
The correct response was Boo Radley from “To Kill a Mockingbird,” but no one got it right.
Betts, who went first, provided a cheeky answer.
“Who is I hope they both bet everything?” she wrote, eliciting laughter from the audience.
“I don’t know if you mean you want them to bet everything and get it right or get it wrong,” host Ken Jennings said.
“The getting (it) wrong part is kind of key to my plan,” Betts said before revealing she had wagered $414, leaving her with $2,786.
Hirsch went next but guessed incorrectly and revealed he had wagered all $7,600, leaving him with zero.
“So far, Alison’s plan is working,” noted Jennings, who then moved on to Hill, who also guessed wrong.
Jennings revealed the correct answer and then revealed Hill had also bet all his money, leaving him with nothing and making Betts the winner.
“Alison just manifested a spot in the semifinals,” Jennings said, as she put her head on the podium and then in her hands in disbelief.
The clip appeared on the official “Jeopardy!” TikTok page, where fans were in awe of Betts.
“That’s actually so much aura for her,” one person wrote.
“Finally, someone who knows how to bet correctly when you’re in third,” someone else commented.
“Optimal Jeopardy strategy was for both tied players to bet it all. She was smart to recognize that,” another person wrote.
“This may genuinely be one of the best Jeopardy moments ever,” another user raved.
While Betts may have defied the odds, she did appreciate the effort from Hill and Hirsch.
“Josh and Isaac were AMAZING and bet perfectly, for what it’s worth!!” she wrote on Instagram.
