Jill Zarin Fired From ‘RHONY’ Reunion After Bad Bunny Super Bowl Comments

Jill Zarin, an original cast member of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has been fired from the upcoming reunion series, “The Golden Life,” TODAY.com has confirmed.

The E! show has yet to go into production, according to Variety, who was first to report the news, but the reality star came under fire for comments she made about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Why Was Jill Zarin Fired From the ‘RHONY’ Reunion?

Zarin was a cast member of “RHONY” from 2008 to 2011. A 10-episode reunion, titled “The Golden Life,” was announced earlier this month, per Variety.

It is set to also include Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonja Morgan as they “reunite with their iconic New York City friend group in glamorous Palm Beach.”

However, Zarin will no longer be a part of the show after she posted a since-deleted Instagram video criticizing Bad Bunny’s performance on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 8.

Blink49 Studios, the producers for “The Golden Life,” confirmed Zarin’s firing in a statement to TODAY.com on Feb. 10. While they mention “recent public comments” made by Zarin, they did not specifically note that it was regarding the statements she made about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show.

“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life,’” the statement reads. “We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”

Reps for Zarin did not immediately respond to TODAY.com’s request for comment.

What Did Jill Zarin Say About Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show?

In her Instagram video, which she has now deleted, Zarin criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show for being in Spanish and lacking white people, NBC News reports.

Zarin called it “the worst halftime show ever” and noted that she doesn’t speak Spanish.

“I would’ve liked to have known the words that he was saying,” Zarin said. “To me it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing.”

Lady Gaga, who is white, made a surprise appearance during the set and sang a salsa version of her duet with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile.” TikToker Alix Earle was also spotted in La Casita.

The former reality star believed that show “was an ICE thing,” referencing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the current turmoil around mass deportations happening throughout the country. She also said the NFL sold out.

Zarin received a slew of backlash and criticism, with people reposting her videos and calling her out for her comments. She has since disabled the comments on her Instagram.
