Mark Ruffalo has declared his next major cinematic project, a heist thriller dubbed ‘Crime 101’ with Chris Hemsworth, which will hit the big screens from February 2026. Not only did the actor unveil the film’s first teaser but he also stirred a lot of excitement along with some unexpected political remarks from his fans.

It is a very big statement. Once more, the duo of Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, the well-known Hulk and Thor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who have always been the coolest superheroes, are set to take on a gritty crime caper. Ruffalo’s post, “Always have an exit. Catch #Crime101 only in theaters starting February 13, 2026,” was very simple yet powerful enough to create a lot of chatter in the digital world. The mere presence of the pair is a huge attraction and it even hints at the same kind of chemistry that has been liked by the fans for nearly ten years.
The response was swift and mainly very positive. One of the comments from a very impatient user said: “Chris and Mark? Yes, please!” and this clearly stated the opinion of most people. Another one humorously referred to the characters of the duo in the past, saying, “Your gang looks fabulous 101.” There was no doubt this partnership is a party. Drew Powell, one of the actors, was just as thrilled as the actor who commented: “Yessir! Can’t wait for folks to see this one. A throwback for sure! We had some fun…😁”
But as it is quite common in the world of social media, the conversation unfortunately shifted to a more serious topic. A significant portion of the comments under Ruffalo’s post suddenly directed their focus towards the Gaza conflict and started to blame Chris Hemsworth for unintentionally taking a side in the debate. “Does Chris Hemsworth support Palestine?” was a very direct comment. Another one responded bluntly with, “Chris ain’t a pro Palestine 🙃”. Such questions do point out that regardless of one’s good intentions, one has to be very careful about one’s political views and humanitarian actions especially when one is in the limelight, like Ruffalo is as he often supports progressive causes through his advocacy.
The political inquiries were really the opposite of the light-and-happy comments made by others. A witty fan said, “Genre: movie that would be in a movie,” whereas another one predicted, “Another Thor and Hulk buddy cop ahh situation.” The variety of responses indicates that the audience of Ruffalo is very mixed: on the one hand, there are plain movie-lovers who are waiting for a fun blockbuster and on the other—the politically conscious fans who regard his platform as a kind of activism through the lens of engagement.
The fan love for Ruffalo shone through the noise. A user commented, “I respect you cz you have the basic ethics and strong personality ❤️,” which was a statement regarding the actor’s character beyond his movie roles. Another one simply said: “I see mark, i watch,” which was a proof that his doing is still a reliable draw at the box office.

The announcement of ‘Crime 101’ was really successful—it generated a lot of excitement among people. It will not only be a great theatrical reunion of two of the most adored stars of Hollywood but it will also come with a classic heist thriller story packed in. However, the discussions it triggered reveal the very complex nature of the world upcoming celebrities live in, a world where a simple movie promo can quickly turn into a battleground for global political debate. For the moment, the film is expected to come out in 2026, which gives everyone ample time to think about the plot and the politics that will surround its stars. This kind of buzz is reminiscent of the immediate reaction to an animated film that also sparked controversy. Ruffalo’s recent professional achievements, like his Golden Globe nomination, and his advocacy work, such as championing an Alzheimer’s documentary, show the breadth of his career and commitments.
