Meghan King Posts About Having a ‘Tough Year’ After Custody Drama

Meghan King is reflecting on her 2025 ahead of the holidays.

King, 41, shared a meme that read, “It was a tough year, but at least I did not buy a Labubu,” via Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 23. She added her own caption to the post, writing, “Butttttt a bunch of ‘super-rare’ stuff happened,” adding the abbreviation for “just saying” and a shrugging girl emoji.

The former Real Housewives of Orange County star appeared to be alluding to her recently settled custody drama with ex-husband Jim Edmonds.

King and Edmonds, 55, were married from 2014 to 2019. Following their divorce, the former couple shared custody of their three kids: daughter Aspen, 8, and twins Hart and Hayes, 7. However, Us Weekly broke the news in November that King had been stripped of her physical custody rights and was granted supervised visitation with their children.

A source told Us at the time the decision to strip King’s custody rights came after a school employee called Child Protective Services on the mother of three. Initially, a hearing was set to determine King’s custody rights, but it was canceled after King and Edmonds were able to come to an agreement.

“The custody hearing has been called off,” Edmonds’ rep, Steve Honig, told Us earlier this month. “Both sides have reached an agreement that is in the best interests of the children.”

A second source told Us that the kids are set to live with their father in Tennessee full time and spend several weeks with King every summer. Neither King nor Edmonds — who married Kortnie Edmonds in September 2022 — have publicly addressed the custody dispute.

Days after settling their custody agreement, King shared a photo with all three of her kids while celebrating the holiday season.

“Went to the holiday mart and only spent money on this,” she captioned an Instagram post on December 13, as all three kids played a claw machine game. “We are a claw-loving clan!”

After the photo went viral, multiple sources shared more details about the custody agreement with Us — offering more details on why King was allowed to be with the kids when Edmond has primary custody.

“Jim and Meghan can mutually agree that she can be with the kids,” one source explained. “Jim wants it to look like on paper that he has custody full-time but it’s not necessarily sustainable. The kids are with Meghan a lot of the time.”

A second insider explained that the kids will spend “a few days” with King around Christmas, which is part of the agreement they made.

“The reason Meghan has been seen with the kids lately is that Jim was being nice and let her see them before the permanent move,” the same source added.

Several of King’s former RHOC stars have showed support for their friend as the custody issues continue to make headlines.

“Meghan and I are friends, and I will stand by her and support her,” Alexis Bellino told Us Weekly exclusively this month. “All I can say is that I know that it’s very difficult, and I just adore her and it’s not easy. I don’t believe everything I read. I would speak to her before I could comment on anything further.”
