‘Mormon Wives’ Star Taylor Frankie Paul Will Not Face Charges

Utah police opened separate probes into alleged altercations between Paul and her ex-partner Dakota Mortensen

Utah prosecutors will not pursue charges against The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul following a pair of domestic violence investigations launched in February.

Police in the Salt Lake City suburbs of Draper City and West Jordan have been reviewing claims of alleged altercations between Paul and her ex-partner Dakota Mortensen, who share a two-year-old son.

In letters sent on April 14 to both departments and obtained by Rolling Stone, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office said that several alleged incidents took place more than three years ago and that any “misdemeanor offenses which are alleged to have occurred more than two years ago are barred by the statute of limitations.”

The district attorney’s office also said that remaining alleged incidents lacked “sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges where the State must be able to prove such allegations beyond a reasonable date,” citing a lack of “specificity as to when and what actually occurred or corroboration.”

A rep for Paul did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment on Tuesday.

In March, production on Season Five of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was put on hold following the investigations into Paul and Mortensen. At the time, police said “allegations have been made in both directions,” and that both parties were contacted the previous month.

Additionally, Paul was arrested in 2023 after allegedly choking, striking, and throwing stools at Mortensen, with one of them allegedly hitting her daughter from a previous relationship. Paul wound up pleading guilty to a count of aggravated assault, while other charges were dismissed. (Paul remains on probation.)

Video of that 2023 incident surfaced after the news broke of a domestic-violence claim from February. The footage prompted ABC to cancel its upcoming season of The Bachelorette, in which Paul was set to star.

The decline in charges does not have a direct effect on Mortensen’s protective order filed on March 19 against Paul, which has been temporarily granted, according to the Associated Press. Paul later accused Mortensen of a “pattern of abusive conduct of coercive control” in a her own filing for a protective order on April 7.
