M&S’ £23 cotton blouse ‘covers the tummy’ and upper arms

With spring finally here, updating a new season wardrobe needn’t be costly. Many high street retailers are offering staple blouses that make getting dressed easy as the warmer weather arrives.

One such retailer is Marks & Spencer, which is selling a £23 Pure Cotton Broderie Tie Neck Blouse that shoppers say is ‘easy to wear with skirts or trousers.’ The top, which comes in a staple black, would team well with all manner of items already in a spring wardrobe and lends itself well to both the office and weekend plans.

Already sold out in UK sizes 22 and 24, fans can still shop the Per Una blouse in sizes six to 20. The timeless top comes in a classic style that won’t date, with a tie V-neck design and a pretty scalloped broderie hemline.

As such, its current review score sits at an impressive 4.7 out of five stars on M&S’ website. One happy reviewer said: “Lovely quality blouse. A great cotton top with a relaxed fit so skims midriff/tummy areas.

“Gives some coverage to upper arms and looks good with cream or beige trousers. It has been washed several times and still looks as good as when I bought it for a recent holiday. Travelled well in suitcase and didn’t need ironing.”

Elsewhere on the high street, Roman is selling a £48 White Cotton Blend Broderie Sleeve Jacket which has been rated five stars. One buyer said of the cover-up: “Great jacket – ideal for summer, goes with everything!”

Over at Next, fashion enthusiasts may wish to consider this stylish £48 Broderie Short Sleeve Shirt. Back to M&S, and plenty of the high-street retailer’s shoppers had high praise for the Broderie Tie Neck Blouse which comes in a breathable pure cotton material.

One said: “Bought this to wear during the day on holidays as I like a sleeve, perfect easy to wear top in a nice cotton that doesn’t crease like linen.” Meanwhile, another commented: “Easy to wear with skirts or trousers, sits at hip length so covers the tummy and is a pretty design. Great value, I would like it in other colours.”

It is of course worth noting that not every top suits every shoppers’ taste, and one buyer who deducted a star from their review said: “Blouse seemed to have too much material around shoulders and top of arms.”

Despite this another enthused: “Lovely black cotton top and excellent quality. Very useful top which can be dressy or casual. Beautiful fabric.”

A further reviewer found the item easy to style, writing: “Simple summer blouse. Can be worn with jeans or a pair of trousers. Dressed up or down.”
