Nathan Tokosi jailed after man shot in head, mouth and body in drive-by attack | UK News

A rapper has been jailed for at least 24 years for a drive-by attack in which a man was shot six times but managed to drag himself back to his flat.

Daniel Offei-Ntow needed life-saving surgery after being hit in the head, mouth and body as he sat in his car in Notting Hill, west London, on 20 November 2023

Nathan Tokosi, also known as DigDat, received a life sentence at the Old Bailey today after being found guilty of attempted murder and firearms charges last year.

The 26-year-old achieved success in 2018 when one of his singles, Air Force, reached number 20 in the UK charts.

Prosecutor Kate Bex KC said Tokosi had been one of several people in a stolen Audi when at least six shots were fired from a passenger window.

Mr Offei-Ntow, 27, managed to escape and firearms officers followed a trail of blood to find him “severely injured” at his flat, said Ms Bex.

Tokosi’s DNA was found in the Audi and police discovered he had also borrowed a BMW for trips from his father’s home in Deptford, southeast London, to Notting Hill the same weekend.

Ms Bex said there was no “innocent explanation” for the BMW and the Audi being in the same location.

Helen Shaw, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said Tokosi had “clearly intended to kill his victim by shooting him in the head at a close range” and that CCTV showed him driving round the area in the Audi before the attack.

The court heard Tokosi had eight previous convictions, including punching a girl in the face and attacking a boy in separate incidents when he was 11.

Two years later, he was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to seven years’ detention for stabbing someone in the ribcage.

Before his arrest for the drive-by, Tokosi was involved in another incident when he threw a bag containing a loaded weapon from a car and fled on foot after refusing to stop for police.

A separate “loaded viable firearm” was found when police raided his home a few weeks later on 16 February 2024.

Tokosi was convicted over these two incidents, along with the attempted murder, in trials in March and November 2025.

Defence barrister Shannon Revel told the judge Tokosi had ADHD and was a “laidback” young man who got caught up the “fast-paced and chaotic” lifestyle of his music career.

“Rising to success so quickly” gave him no real time for reflection, she said.

There was weeping from the public gallery as he was led away to begin his sentence – with Tokosi making a phone gesture to family.
