Nearly all men have ‘no regrets’ shaving head after splashing £750 to keep hair

Nine in 10 men have no regrets after shaving their heads and accepting hair loss. A poll of 2,000 bald men found 74% of those who shaved their heads due to hair loss felt liberated after they embraced being hair-free. Prior to shaving, more than half (54%) confessed losing their hair was stressful and negatively impacted their mental health.

Two thirds said their confidence dropped while 44% admitted they were paranoid about how they looked. Yet despite 57% worrying whether baldness might impact their attractiveness, 41% said their partner actually likes them bald.

What’s more, more than half of those who shaved their head recorded lower stress (53%), and 50% noted an increase in confidence.

The research was commissioned by skincare brand BLD BRO, ahead of BALD FEST – a celebration of bald confidence, taking place at The Sun & 13 Cantons in London’s Soho on Thursday May 14.

The event will feature free head shaves, DJs and a free beer for anyone wanting to embrace baldness. Tariq Kazemi, co-founder of BLD BRO, said: “For most people, the fear of hair loss is far worse than actually being bald.

“I understand this from personal experience; when you lose your hair, you feel like you’re losing your attractiveness, your mojo, your confidence.

“But when you finally accept being bald, that all disappears; the anxiety and problems fade away.

“You realise that being bald is actually quite good; no haircuts, no bad hair days and no stress around hair loss, because you’ve already taken control of the situation.”

The research found 56% of those polled have taken action to try to prevent or reverse hair loss, with an average spend of £750 across their lifetime on things such as products, treatments or consultations, according to the OnePoll.com data.

Tariq Kazemi added: “The hair loss industry preys upon insecurity and outdated narratives. But there is an alternative and BLD BRO is here to celebrate baldness.

“Ultimately, do what makes you feel happy and confident. If you want to embrace being bald, then welcome to a very proud and far less stressed club.”
