River Island’s argyle cardigan looks more expensive

From sparkles to snug winter jumpers, many will be locking in their Christmas Day outfits with under two weeks to go. For those still searching, this brown knitted argyle cardigan from River Island is a rather festive option, and it’s currently available in XS to XL on the clothing brand’s website for £44.

Balancing a timeless yet contemporary look, the soft and stylish cardigan features a classic geometric argyle pattern in shades of deep red and pale blue. This blend of warm and neutral tones matches perfectly with jeans for a casual look, but can also be dressed up with more tailored pieces.

Designed with a clean crew neckline and neat button-front fastening, the brown argyle cardigan is both cosy and refined and will layer effortlessly over tees, blouses, or other lightweight knits. Made from a durable acrylic and polyester blend, it’s machine washable at 30 degrees and can also be cool ironed.

Those shopping last minute should make a note of River Island’s delivery cut-off dates for Christmas 2025. They’re December 20 for standard delivery, and December 22 for next-day delivery.

Another cosy option is this textured tie-front cardigan with wool from M&S for £38. Available in the colours fawn or beige from XS to XL, it has been constructed from a playfully textured yarn in a flattering slim fit and cropped length.

Next has its own seasonal styles too, including this red sparkle argyle embellished cardigan with wool for £46. This Christmassy garment has a geometric design enhanced with sparkle detailing, and there are both regular and petite fits available.

Back to River Island, the brand has received more than 5,000 reviews on Trustpilot. One shopper gave five stars, saying: “I always have a positive experience in-store, but have recently also used their online service and ordered to collect in store.

“The items arrived promptly and you can return them easily to the store. Really pleased.”

Another said as part of a longer five-star review: “Lovely choice of clothes, especially geared towards the festive season.”

A third simply added: “One of the best and easiest online stores. Quick delivery and easy free returns, recommended.”

One did leave feedback on the retailer’s sizing as part of a longer four-star review: “An idea might be for them to give the exact measurements under each garment’s description. The general size guide they have online doesn’t apply to most of the garments I’ve bought from them.”

Another mentioned a delay as part of a longer review, but praised the assistance they received: “The online customer service staff were very helpful when my order had been delayed.”
