Savannah Guthrie Posts Tearful Video Pleading for Mother’s Safe Return

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings, Annie and Cameron Guthrie, have shared a public plea for the return of their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen on Jan. 31. The 84-year-old woman is believed to have been taken from her home against her will and local authorities reportedly notified the FBI of an alleged ransom note received.

In a tearful video captioned, “Bring her home,” and posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Feb. 4, Savannah began by thanking supporters “or the prayers for our beloved mom,” adding, “We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them too.” The Today show host described their mother as “full of kindness and knowledge” with grandchildren that “adore her.”

“The light is missing from our lives,” Annie continued. “She is our beacon. She holds fast to joy in all of life’s circumstances. She chooses joy day after day, despite having already passed through great trials of pain and grief.” Speaking directly to Nancy, she said, “Mama, if you’re listening, We need you to come home. We miss you.”

Savannah said that their mother’s heart is “fragile” and she lives in “constant pain,” and that she needs her medicine to survive. Savannah also acknowledged that she and her siblings heard reports of an alleged ransom letter and said, “We are ready to talk however.” She then addressed the alleged kidnappers: “We live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her, we want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen.”

Speaking to their mother, she said, “Please, reach out to us, mommy. If you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter. We believe and know that even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you, mommy, everywhere, we will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again.”

The full content and source of the ransom note, which TMZ reportedly received, has not been shared. The outlet claimed hat it included demands for “millions” in cryptocurrency to be paid to a Bitcoin address. The legitimacy of the note has not been verified.

The missing person report for Nancy describes her as being 5 feet 5 inches, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. 88-CRIME is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest or arrests in Nancy’s disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is asking those with potential evidence to submit information via an online tip portal.
