Savannah Guthrie Tells Mother’s Suspected Kidnappers ‘We Will Pay’

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings released a new video statement Saturday, telling the people who allegedly kidnapped their mother Nancy, “We will pay.”

“We received your message, and we understand,” Guthrie said in the video posted to Instagram on Saturday. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.” Guthrie nor authorities have detailed the message they received.

The news anchor continued, “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us. And we will pay.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 and local authorities have acknowledged reports of an alleged ransom note, although it has yet to be directly confirmed by officials. The 84-year-old woman is believed to have been taken from her home against her will.

In a previous video shared on social media, Savannah said that their mother’s heart is “fragile” and she lives in “constant pain,” and that she needs her medicine to survive. She also addressed the alleged kidnappers: “We live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her, we want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen.”

Earlier this week, the FBI announced that a $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of Nancy and or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Sheriff Chris Nanos said that no suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time. “Everybody’s still a suspect in our eyes,” Nanos said. “The family’s been very cooperative, they’ve done everything we’ve asked of them.”

Earlier this week, authorities arrested a man in California who sent an “imposter ransom demand” demanding cryptocurrency via text message to Guthrie’s siblings. “To those impostors who are trying to take advantage and profit from this situation – we will investigate and ensure you are held accountable for your actions,” Heith Janke, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s field office in Phoenix, said.
