The View’s Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin Address Deborah Roberts’ Sale Drama

The View’s Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin are setting the record straight on their shopping experience at Deborah Roberts’ holiday sale.

“What I will say is that I heard about the Deborah Roberts sale from my hair and makeup team, so I did text Deborah Roberts to ask her about it because The View team was not told about it,” Hostin, 57, shared on the Tuesday, December 16, episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast. “What I did was I asked Deborah what time it was going to begin, and she said at 12, and I said, ‘Can I get there at 9?’ and she said, ‘Yes.’”

According to The View’s executive producer, Brian Teta, there was some “controversy” in the office after rumors surfaced that “Joy Behar and The View people went up and took everything.”

The ladies, however, strongly denied taking “everything” available.

“I got, like, four things but there were many, many more things than that,” Behar, 83, said on the podcast. “I got a pair of earrings. I bought a pair of earrings for someone on the staff as a gift. And I bought a pair of sunglasses and a bracelet.”

Hostin added, “I got five things. Deborah is one of the best dressed people at ABC.”

Roberts, 65, previously revealed on social media that before the holidays, she tries to “purge my closet” and get rid of things “that no longer bring me joy — from clothing, to shoes, to maybe a tie from my husband’s closet.”

The Sisters Loved and Treasured author hosts the sale at ABC’s offices and charges her colleagues for the items, “because I can use that money to help organizations who are doing good things like Citymeals on Wheels helping elderly fight hunger and other good organizations.”

While the event brings excitement to staffers, Page Six reported that some employees were upset with Behar and Hostin’s early access to the sale and accused them of having special treatment.

Roberts responded to the chatter on Thursday, December 18, telling the publication, “They were excited for a shopping moment and as we all were. Joy showed up promptly with cash the next day and Sunny Venmoed like everyone else and was quite generous. It’s all for a good cause to support food insecurity charities and to help me clear out my closet.”

In the “Behind the Table” podcast, Hostin explained that she stopped by the sale in between tapings and Hot Topics meetings.

Us Weekly has also learned that The View was taping two shows on the day of Roberts’ sale, making it hard for the cohosts to attend right at 12 noon.

Ultimately, ABC’s daytime talk show will be taking a previously scheduled holiday hiatus starting Monday, December 22. They will return with new episodes in January.

Guests previously announced include Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
