“Heated Rivalry” has HBO Max viewers hooked.
Ever since the romantic drama premiered on Nov. 28, fans of the new series have been eager to find out how the six-part story will end, and where it will leave Shane Hollaner (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov’s (Connor Storrie) romance.
Before the latest episode drops, we’re sharing everything you need to know to tune in.
Episode 5, which is titled “I’ll Believe in Anything,” will premiere on HBO Max at 12 a.m. PT on Friday, Dec. 19 and 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, Dec. 18.
“Heated Rivalry” is inspired by Rachel Reid’s book series “Game Changers.”
The HBO Max show tells the story of two hockey players and NHL rivals, Canadian Shane Hollander and Russian Ilya Rozanov.
While following Shane and Ilya over the course of several years, viewers get an intimate look at their personal and professional lives, which intertwine when they become romantically involved.
While speaking with TODAY.com, Reid said the experience of having her work adapted into a TV series has been “a dream.”
“And you can even see with the way that the promotion of the show is going, everybody’s still mentioning the book, mentioning me, crediting me for so much. It’s really nice. I wasn’t expecting any of that,” she said.
Episode 4 of “Heated Rivalry” leaves Shane and Ilya with other people and pining for each other.
As his feelings for Ilya grow, Shane seems to run from them, straight into the arms of a Hollywood star named Rose Landry (Sophie Nélisse).
The episode ends with Shane and Ilya locking eyes at a club. Shane is with Rose; Ilya is dancing with a stranger. Their gaze holds so much – and it might be translated into words come Episode 5.
