Anya Taylor-Joy Is ‘Desperate to Stay Still’ in Her New Apple TV Thriller

Her upcoming Apple TV thriller ‘Lucky’ casts her as a con artist caught in the chaotic aftermath of a multimillion-dollar heist gone wrong. The character is being hunted by both the FBI and a ruthless mob boss. Freedom isn’t even the goal, according to L’OFFICIEL. Stability is.

“I was so attracted to playing somebody who was just so desperate to stay still and put down roots,” Taylor-Joy told L’OFFICIEL.

The contrast between her off-screen self and the character she’s inhabiting is one of the more interesting threads in the piece. Off-screen, the British-Argentine actress approaches stillness like a foreign concept. The interview came fresh after a desert road trip. “I’ve always been nomadic by nature,” she said. “Now I’ve just fully embraced it as part of who I am.”

She spelled out her approach to free time without much hesitation. “If I have a couple of days off, I’m always like, ‘Ooh, what’s within driving distance?’ If it’s six hours or less, I’m like, ‘Let’s go. Why not?’”
