I’d ‘Need an Extra Brain’ to Drop New Music Soon

The singer was clarifying a previous red carpet comment she made about a music timeline
Ariana Grande isn’t thinking about making new music — at least not right now. On Friday, the Wicked star clarified comments she made to Variety, joking that she’d need “an extra brain and four more arms” to take on a new album at the moment.
The trade outlet initially reported that Grande said there was “definitely not” new music coming “before May,” adding a message to fans: “I love them so much, but sometimes I want to ask, ‘Do you think there’s another version of me out there who had time to write an album?’ Not yet — but soon enough.”
But in a follow-up Instagram comment, Grande pushed back on that framing. “Welp, I never said ‘but soon enough’ or mentioned any months! lol my goooooodness,” she wrote. “All i said was ‘no’ and ‘do they think there’s a clone of me out there somewhere’! there must’ve been a Zoom glitch or something.”
The mention of a month in the year led some fans to believe that perhaps she would be sharing new music during her Eternal Sunshine tour, which is scheduled for this summer. In a separate comment on that post, she wrote, “Ma’am i would need an extra brain and four more arms.”
Back in November, she said that her Eternal Sunshine run was going to be her “last hurrah.” She told Amy Poehler in a podcast interview, “I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful.”
Over the weekend, she told E! News she was working on the set list for “months now” and that she’ll be starting rehearsals “very soon.” Grande is set to start her tour on June 6 with a trio of shows in Oakland.
