Accolades
A one-time Super Bowl champion and 2011 Greasy Neale Award winner, McCarthy’s 174 regular-season wins would be the fourth-most by any active NFL head coach. He has been responsible for some all-time great offenses, such as the Cowboys’ No. 1–ranked unit in 2021, which set multiple franchise records.
Potential fit with Pittsburgh
With 18 years of head coaching experience with the Packers and Cowboys, two of the league’s most historic organizations, McCarthy brings stability and a proven track record to the table for Pittsburgh. He would break precedent as a potential head coach of the Steelers, however, as the team has historically leaned on defensive-minded coaches, and McCarthy would theoretically be the first offensive-based head coach hired since 1969.
