The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, which means that men’s soccer fans across the globe are about to lock in and hope that this year might be the year that their country comes out on top. (It probably won’t be. I’m from England, so when it comes to the men’s game, all I know is disappointment.)
The tournament is being held in North America, which has been a subject of contention for many reasons — not least because soccer (or football, as most call it) is hardly the most popular sport among those in the US and Canada.
